  • Address Change. We will mail you a new driver's license and new vehicle registration cards.
  • Register a Vehicle Purchased from a Nevada Dealer. You can transfer existing license plates or we will mail new plates. Most cars, trucks and motorcycles are eligible.
  • Vehicle Registration Renewal. We will mail the registration and decal.
  • Personalized License Plate Order. Build a preview of your plate, check the number and order it all at once!
  • Duplicate Registration. This is even easier. Print it right from your computer.
  • Duplicate Driver's License, ID Card or Instruction Permit. We will mail the license to you.
  • Driver History Printout. Print a full report from your computer.
  • Insurance Verification. If you get a verification request, respond online or call. Don't take payment receipts to a DMV office. Insurance must be verified electronically by the carrier. There is no reason to go to an office for insurance problems unless we ask you to.

4. Have the Right InformationTop ↑

Sometimes you have to visit the DMV in person but make sure you only have to come in once. Get the right forms and all of the documents you need to complete the transaction. Here are some specific tips:

  • Driver's License/ID Card Proof of Identity. Visit Proof of Residency and Identity and read the requirements carefully if you are applying for a first-time license, changing your name or upgrading to a Real ID. The DMV requires proof of every name change if you have changed your name multiple times.
  • Written Driving Test. Download the Driver Handbook and study it if you have to take the written test./li>
  • VIN Inspection. Any vehicle that has never been registered or titled in Nevada must have a Vehicle Identification Number inspection. Visit the inspection station outside the main office (at larger DMV locations) before you come inside. You do not have to complete the VIN inspection at the same time as the registration.
  • Proof of Insurance. You must obtain insurance from a Nevada-licensed carrier prior to registering your vehicle and present Nevada Evidence of Insurance. See Vehicle Registration Requirements for other items you will need.
